This qualification provides a trade outcome in solid plastering for residential and commercial work. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as the specialist field of work, solid plastering. Solid plasterers apply plaster, cement and other mixtures to walls to create smooth or decorative finishes to interior walls and to render to exterior walls.
State and territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.
Participants will also be eligible to seek employment working in a small, medium or large enterprise, in a variety of industries, in both the public and private sector. Graduates should expect to enter the industry in positions such as Solid Plasterer, Renderer, Render Technician, or Heritage Plastering Specialist.
This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.
Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
On completion of this qualification, candidates may choose to undertake the Certificate IV in Building & Construction, Diploma of Building & Construction (Building), Diploma of Civil Construction Design, Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design leading to Bachelor of Civil Engineering or other Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualifications from the BSB Business Services Training Package or any other training package to further enhance their career opportunities in their chosen field.
· Delivery and assessment strategies are selected to reflect the nature of the elements and performance criteria of the competency together with the needs and learning style of the participants. Delivery and assessment method includes a blended learning practice including learning management system (Moodle).
· Assessment methodology may include but is not limited to: observation, project/ report, case study, role play, exercises, activities; and written/oral tasks including multiple choice, questions and answer, essays, true/false and presentations.
· Must be 18 years or older.
· Must have completed an overseas equivalent of Year 12 (refer to table 1)
· Must have either anIELTS score of 6.0 total or above with no band lower than 6.0 (refer to table2)
· Mature age students will also be considered without the minimum education requirements but with relevant work experience within chosen area of study and a demonstrated capacity to meet course requirements.
· Entry requirements will be checked at enrolment in line with the RTO’s Student entry requirements, selection, enrolment and orientation policy.
