Qualification Description

This qualification provides a trade outcome in painting and decorating for residential and commercial construction work. Licensing, legislative and regulatory or certification requirements for painting and decorating work differ between States and Territories. Please consult with the relevant regulatory authority.

Vocational Outcome

Participants will also be eligible toseek employment working in a small, medium or large enterprise, in a variety ofindustries, in both the public and private sector. Graduates should expect toenter the industry in positions such as Painter and Decorator.

Academic Pathway

This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.

Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code ofPractice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

On completion of this qualification, candidates may choose to undertake the Diploma of Building & Construction (Building),Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design leading to Bachelor of CivilEngineering or other Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualifications from the BSBBusiness Services Training Package or any other training package to further enhance their career opportunities in their chosen field.

Course Delivery & Assessment Methods

·       Delivery and assessment strategies are selected to reflect the nature of the elements and performance criteria of the competency together with the needs and learning style of the participants. Delivery and assessment method includes a blended learning practice including learning management system (Moodle).

·       Assessment methodology may include but is not limited to: observation, project/ report, case study, role play, exercises, activities; and written/oral tasks including multiple choice, questions and answer, essays, true/false and presentations.

Entry Requirements

·       Must be 18 years or older.

·       Must have completed an overseas equivalent of Year 12 (refer to table 1)

·       Must have either anIELTS score of 6.0 total or above with no band lower than 6.0 (refer to table2)

·       Mature age students will also be considered without the minimum education requirements but with relevant work experience within chosen area of study and a demonstrated capacity to meet course requirements.

·       Entry requirements will be checked at enrolment in line with the RTO’s Student entry requirements, selection, enrolment and orientation policy.
